Day and time:  Saturdays 2.15pm - 3.30pm (all year round)

Please be aware that this is not a coached session and children under the age of eight must be accompanied in and out of the water by a responsible person aged at least 16 years old.

Free swimming QR codes can be used in these sessions during the school holidays.

Lane swimming etiquette

To ensure that your lane swimming session is a pleasant one, we would be grateful if you could adhere to the following rules:

  • Please comply with centre conditions of entry and any poolside signage

  • Please follow guidance given by the lifeguard

  • Choose the correct lane for your ability - slow, fast or medium paced

  • Be willing to switch lanes if your swimming speed is not similar to others in the lane

  • Wait until the swimmers have turned and pushed off before entering the pool

  • Swim clockwise / anticlockwise according to the lane that you are in

  • Be aware of others swimmers entering the pool

  • If you have to rest please do so in the corner of the lane, allowing other swimmers to pass safely

  • Be conscious of oncoming swimmers and only overtake when it is safe to do so

  • Show courtesy and consideration to others at all times

  • Please note that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated

Swimming rules
  • All persons aged 8 and over may enter the pools unaccompanied (except family swimming sessions). Please see ‘Session types’ above to ensure you attend the appropriate session.

  • All children under 8 years of age must be accompanied into the water by an adult or responsible person over 16 years of age. One adult may accompany up to two children under 8.

  • During the school holidays, children participating in Free Swimming must be accompanied into the centre by a responsible adult aged 18 years and above. The accompanying adult does NOT need to swim unless the child is under 8 years of age. If children aged 8 and over attend the pool unaccompanied by an adult, they may still swim but this will be charged at the standard rate.

  • If your baby is under a year old, it is recommended that you limit your time in the water to 30 minutes maximum. Babies lose heat more quickly than adults, so they shouldn't stay in the pool for too long

  • Family swim sessions are only open to responsible adults with children. A responsible adult aged 16 years and above must be present in the pool during these sessions.

Useful information
  • During peak periods and free swimming sessions the centre is busier than normal and therefore a queueing system may be in operation. Please be advised that queuing may take place outside the front of the building. Please ensure you wear clothing appropriate to the weather conditions.

  • Lockers - customers will require a £1 coin to operate the lockers which is returnable once the locker is opened. Please ensure that you collect your coin from the lock before leaving the locker.
